Plant Manager

Our client is on the cusp of significant growth and has decided to bring in new leadership to help guide their progress.  Sales are up through both new and existing clients and the current/future state is/will be prosperous.  The role is in the Charlotte NC area which is one of the fastest growing and desirable locations in the US. 

Your demonstrable success in a leadership role is required and your experience in manufacturing is equally critical.  We are looking for 10+ years in manufacturing that should include at least 5 years around metals manufacturing whether in machining, casting, stamping, or other application.  The position is responsible for about 125 people, oversees HR, Engineering, Quality, EH&S, etc.  Your experience with Continuous Improvement (e.g. Lean/Six Sigma) is highly desirable as well as your ability to show how you’ve helped drive a culture of Quality. 


  • Manages all of the facility’s activities to meet corporate objectives for customer satisfaction, profitability and growth
  • Overall accountability for Quality, a Safe work environment, Financial stability/success, and the Human Resources of the organization 
  • Works with direct reports (DR’s) to establish goals and objectives in alignment with corporate goals; builds and implements plans to achieve the goals; reports to executive management on progress
  • Stays engaged with DR’s and the manufacturing floor to ensure that a culture of Quality, Continuous Improvement and service to the customer are intrinsic foundational intents
  • Challenges the status quo to validate maximum effectiveness throughout the organization
  • Full P&L responsibility including development and execution of the facility’s budget
  • Liaise internally with all departments and externally with other facilities and divisions
  • Will be involved in Special Projects, as assigned, impacting both local and corporate activities
  • Provides for adherence/compliance to Executive and Government Regulations and Policies


  1. Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or Business discipline with a preference for an advanced degree
  2. 10-15 years’ experience in manufacturing where at least 5 of those is in a comparable position responsible for a facility, or several departments of at least 100 people
  3. Must demonstrate effective communications skills both verbal and written; be engaged vertically and horizontally in the org chart and interact with peers on best practices
  4. Embraces team building as critical to cross-functional and customer interactions
  5. Understands, interprets and communicates financial reports
  6. Champions Quality and Continuous Improvement as core competencies in manufacturing
  7. An effective leader with an in-depth understanding of how to balance hands-on against hands-off and embraces the importance of mentoring/coaching to tactical and strategic planning
