Quality Manager  

Our client is in metals manufacturing and looking for a talented Quality Manager for one of their North Carolina facilities.  This position will touch every component of the QS from Vendor Approval to Incoming Inspection to SPC and writing/revising of SOP’s.  You will, daily, be involved as a customer advocate but never lose sight of your responsibility to the company’s success.  When we asked the VP of Quality what keeps him there he said, “The continuous opportunity to grow and the moral fiber of the company.”

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Overall responsibility for the QS which includes setting of objectives, implementing standards, KPI’s for quality results and building a culture of Quality
  2. Proactively communicates with the customer base for feedback on quality performance
  3. Responsible for the Met Lab tooling, gages and specs; defines & follows requirements for document control
  4. Provides direction to and training for DR’s, setting and monitoring their objectives, ensuring adherence to policies, and providing an environment for personal and company growth
  5. Develops and writes SOP’s, and other quality documents ensuring they are up-to-date and meet requirements for content 
  6. Works cross-functionally to identify improvement opportunities interacting with staff and peers to encourage and/or lead continuous improvement  
  7. Exhibits a collaborative communications style whether verbally or in writing to achieve departmental and company goals
  8. Active participant and leader in the settlement of employee issues and concerns 
  9. Responsible for the maintenance, organization and general upkeep of Quality areas and equipment using 5S techniques to establish a system of values in line with company goals 
  10. Responsible for shipping quality product
  11. Must be an effective communicator capable of engaging coworkers in a culture of Quality
  12. Assists, including other departments, in effectively demonstrating justifications for capital equipment and its implementation 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • BS in an Engineering discipline (e.g. Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial)
  • 7+ years’ experience where 3 of those years include managing others in a quality setting
  • Ability to read and write, understand blueprints with basic knowledge of GD&T, develop and write effective procedures/work instructions and maintain appropriate document control
  • Experience MUST include time in manufacturing with a component manufacturer
  • Analytical approach to problem-solving
  • Experience with Lean principles and/or Six Sigma a plus 
  • Effective communicator that leads by example, has excellent people skills and champions the effectiveness of team building
  • A thorough understanding of SPC, its principals and its appropriate application
